2009-2010 Jazz Band and Wind Ensemble Results
The following are the results of the auditions for next year's Honors Wind Ensemble and Honors Jazz Band. I would like to thank everyone who auditioned for these two very select ensembles. I appreciate the time and effort that all of you obviously put into learning the audition piece(s). The fact that more and more students are auditioning each year shows that you care and have a passion for music, and the level of the playing that I am hearing in the auditions continues to improve and mature. As you know, the instrumentation for Honors Wind Ensemble and Honors Jazz Band is limited and there are not seats for everyone. We must maintain proper instrumentation in order to achieve the appropriate balance and blend. If you have any questions, please come see me.
Again, thank you all for your hard work and dedication to music. You should be proud of your growth.

Jazz Band Take Home a SILVER!
The Shrewsbury High School Jazz Band earned a SILVER MEDAL in the annual MAJE Central District Festival last night. The festival, held at Algonquin Regional High School, showcased 18 jazz bands from Central Massachusetts. The Jazz Band from Shrewsbury played very well, and our clinician commented on the growth of the ensemble since the last time he had the chance to hear the group back in 2007. The members of the ensemble will listen to the audio tapes containing comments made by the three judges and work to polish the three charts in preparation for their next performance at the Heritage Music Festival in New York City on March 14th. The students did an excellent job and should be commended for their performance.
Special Award Winners:
Gina Cortese - trumpet
Megan Roy - trombone
Teddy Smongeski - trumpet
Below are the videos from last night's performance:
